2014

Patricia is a 68 year old woman who we met in Palm Springs, CA. Here is the letter she wrote us:

“I am a 68 year old woman with breast cancer. I had a double mastectomy in February 2014. November 2013 I had a biopsy of my right breast, a week later I had a heart attack. In January the doctor did a lumpectomy, but the cancer was still there. In February I had a double mastectomy because the pain in my right breast was so great I could not endure this pain again.

I have two children. Both boys Thomas Jeffrey is 44 and Brian is 42, a retired Navy Seal. Brian was attached to the Seal Unit as a Electronics Technician. He was in the Navy for 10 years.

I have a Civil Engineering Technology Degree. I moved to California in 1981 from Memphis, TN. My husband died in 1873, after his death I went to State Tech at Memphis and I was one of the first women to get  two year degree. I was President of the Engineering Club.

Today I am recovering from breast reconstruction surgery. I have just moved and I feel very good. My boys and grandchildren are very worried. I am just praying I can recover and continue to study art and finish my paintings. I also write short stories.

I am having a hard time making ends meet. If you could help me with a grant, I would be very grateful.”

The Love from Margot Foundation gave Patricia a financial grant which transformed her life.
