Alma G. is a 43-year-old woman who was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer in March of this year, her mastectomy is scheduled for June. Alma moved to the United States from Guadalajara shortly after her mother died. Alma is a single mother to her 14-year-old daughter Kayla. To support them in the US Alma began to clean houses as a means to support her and her daughter. Alma’s doctors have told her that they believe her cancer was caused by the over exposure to the chemicals she used to clean the homes. Alma and her daughter have been forced to rent a living room in a home in San Pablo. Her doctors have encouraged her to stay away from cleaning chemicals throughout her treatment and Almas is searching desperately to find means of employment. Speaking no English and being an illegal immigrant have made things increasingly difficult for her to get by.

Despite her financial woes, Alma remains in a hopeful and determined spirit. Her only fear of not being able to be around for her daughter. She told me that she believes that the more you give, the more you will be blessed and she has offered to help the Love from Margot Foundation in any way that she can.

The Love from Margot Foundation was able to provide Alma with a financial grant to help her get on her feet, while continuing her search for employment.
