Dear Southern California Friends,

I invite you to take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to read the following emotional story. And at the bottom of this email I would like to invite you to a very special event.

“What would your mother want,” I asked, “financial support or a breast?” I was speaking to George, the 18 year old son of Esperanza at the Starbucks in Rancho Mirage, the third member of our little group was 12 year old Dayana, daughter and little sister. The mom had applied for a financial grant from Love from Margot but doesn’t speak English, the kids both born here were acting as translators.

Esperanza came to the Coachella Valley over 20 years ago from Mexico, initially working in the fields to gather our produce, no doubt in my mind, this is where she was exposed to chemicals that are now responsible for this 47 year old woman having breast cancer.

I have worked with close to 20 woman in the Coachella Valley this past year, all with some type of cancer, most are Hispanic and on Medi-Cal. Medi-Cal provides insurance for 18 months, what I see happen is a single or double mastectomy is performed, for whose benefit I am not sure, then chemotherapy followed by radiation. After 18 months the patient is left with a deformed body, a ruined immune system and no more insurance!

That is where Esperanza is now, a beautiful 47 year old woman, married with 3 beautiful children, her husband was injured on the job thus they live on less than $1,500 per month. In her grant application she wrote, “My self-esteem is very low, I really feel bad not having my reconstruction surgery but I no longer have insurance, can you help?”

That is why I asked her son which see would prefer, financial assistance or a breast, her son asked his mom in Spanish, with tears in her eyes, she responded, “a breast.” Then she asked me, “Why do you have such a big heart?” The question caught me off guard, I mumbled something about Margot and Amanda and that was it. Since then I have thought a lot about that question, “Why do I give most of my money away to strangers?” As I pondered that question this past week, two reasons came to mind. One, my parents taught me to give more than I receive, which by the way is a great philosophy to live by if you want to happy and successful. The other reason is that the real joy in living comes from giving!

I could go on forever discussing this concept, but as I wrote in my book, Love Unfiltered, you cannot out give God, it is impossible! I urge to experience how good it feels to help others, I don’t care if you can only give $10 per month, do it! My philosophy on how much I give is, I give until it hurts and then I give  just a little bit more. I hope you try it, you will be amazed as to how the Universe will bless you! To help Esperanza get a new breast, please go to www.lovefrommargot.com and hit the donate button, and you will also get to see our new site.

Speaking of giving, I have come to know a beautiful woman by the name of Raquel that lives in Rancho Mirage. She has been so gracious and giving to me, perhaps that is why she is so happy. Raquel has created a flier inviting you to an event at her house which includes a book signing by yours truly, all proceeds go to the Love From Margot Foundation, I hope to see you there, if you can make it please register as soon as you can, the info on how to register is below, thank you……mike
